The County no longer has a Feline Control Program  l and Norfolk Animal Control cannot help you.

Please call the Simcoe & District Humane Society

(519) 428-9161, however, keep in mind, before you call that the Simcoe and District Humane Society does not deal with the stray population as their programs are designed to help animals injured, critically ill, family violence and cruelty investigations which they say takes up all their foster care space and donated dollars.

YOU MUST TAKE RESPONSIBILITY ....

  • A responsible cat owner will keep their cat(s) indoors and not allow them to stray or trespass
  • A responsible cat owner will have their cat(s) vaccinated, micro chipped & spayed or neutered
  • Feline Lukemia (FeLV) and Feline Aids (FIV) testing and vaccinations should be done as these diseases are very contagious.
  • If you start to feed stray cats then you MUST TAKE RESPONSIBILITY for the stray cats FOREVER as they will keep coming back to be fed.  If you are going to feed stray cats then you also MUST BE PREPARED to take the next necessary step and that is to have the cat(s) vet checked for disease, spay/neutered & vaccinated or they will just multiply continually spreading disease and eventually you will be over-run with diseased cats.  If you are not prepared to take on the responsibility financially or otherwise, then DO NOT FEED STRAY CATS.   If a cat belongs to a neighbour then the cat will eventually make their way back home, but if you feed this cat, then the cat will stay and not bother going back home.
